Meet the Expert Behind Your Forest's Care
David Irving
David Irving, a Maine licensed professional forester (License #3249), has dedicated his career to the sustainable management and conservation of Maine's forest resources. Growing up in Washington County, David developed a deep connection to the land and a passion for forestry early on. He attended the University of Maine, where he earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Forest Management and Wildlife Ecology in 1996.
With over two decades of experience, David has worked with various organizations, including the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands, JM Huber Corporation, and Environmental Consultants Inc. In 2003, he took a brief sabbatical to be a stay-at-home dad before starting his consulting services under the name Back to Maine Forest Management.
David's extensive experience includes forest management planning, timber harvest administration, wildlife habitat improvement, and advanced digital mapping using GPS and GIS software. He is a Certified Tree Farm Inspector and a member of the Society of American Foresters.
David is dedicated to meeting the unique needs of each landowner, providing tailored solutions that promote both immediate and long-term forest health. When he's not working, David enjoys spending time with his family and taking his sons, Samuel and Elliot, fishing.
